Your Habit Formation Style is...

Following Emotional Cues

allows me to improve my life.

You listen to your emotions, allowing your feelings to guide the improvement and potentially the elimination of certain habits in your life.

This Habit Formation Style is very in tune with how you feel in the moment and that drives you to act.

This style may be more relevant for those habits that seem to form subconsciously. You may look back and think, “Oh yeah, I ate that bag of potato chips because I was sad.” The focus is how you feel in the moment and that feeling becomes the cue that drives your action.

Your mind-space is very connected to your ability to identify feelings. The idea of acting on your gut or initial instincts resonates with you.

Potential weakness: You may be quick to respond to an emotion without considering the healthiest approach first.

Improving your life! This approach to habit formation focuses on improving behaviors in your life.

You are more likely to focus on and understand the downsides a behavior may have on your health and life prior to avoiding that behavior.

You find it easier to remove undesired habits that you notice in your life. It is more difficult for you to consciously add a new habit. There may be identifiable barriers that keep you from adding certain habits.
